The moving parts of any material testing equipment present a potential for injury, while measuring mechanical & physical properties of material in a laboratory or either on the manufacturing floor. Conducting a destructive test involves diverse operations which can cause of having an hand place into a dangerous position or any body part come in contact with a moving part.
Tension and compression motorized test systems have moving parts which perform sliding or rotating motions, nevertheless the sample which is tested is also a potential cause of injury to users and in the surrounding of the testing area (e.g. flying particles generated during testing by the raw materials)
Example of hazards - The source of hazards relevant to material testing equipments may include, but are not limited to: impact hazard, crushing hazard (between a moving part of the tester and its fixed frame), stabbing and puncturing hazard (flying objects), ejection hazards.
ANDILOG offers fixed guards, which completely surrounds the working area of the tester and prevent contact. Fitted with an interlocked gate, which is equipped with “mechanical open door sensing system” that causes working tester to stop. Re-closing of the door doesn’t cause an automatic restart of the test in process. Manual restart outside the safeguarded space is then necessary. Safety guards are the first line of defense against injuries caused by the operation.
The advantage of using safety guards are: prevent access to the danger areas and contain particles of the sample ejecting during the test.
