Before you start, it's crucial to ensure that the force gauge is correctly calibrated. This guarantees accurate measurements. Also check for any visible damage to the instrument. Next, choose a solid attachment point for both the object to be measured and the dynamometer. This may be a hook or jaws. The sample must be positioned freely, without obstruction, in the measuring axis of the load cell, to ensure correct measurement. Finally, the ambient temperature must be noted. Temperature variations can affect the dynamometer materials and influence the results.
